(Yani, olmayan kardiyoselektif beta-blokerler), bazı beta-blokör uygulandığında ajanlar bronşiyal astım bronşiyal astım veya ağır kronik obstrüktif akciğer hastalığı öyküsü olan ya da hastalarda vardır. Genel olarak, engelleyici ajanlar beta-adrenerjik bronchospastic hastalıkları olan hastalarda kullanılmamalıdır. Beta blokaj olumsuz beta-2 reseptörleri katekolamin stimülasyonu tarafından üretilen bronchodilation mücadelede akciğer fonksiyonunu etkileyebilir. Eğer beta-bloker tedavisi bu hastalarda gerekirse, (örneğin, atenolol, metoprolol, betaxolol) 1 seçicilik daha güvenli olarak kabul edilir, ama beta ile bir ajan yine de dikkatli kullanılmalıdır.
