Kortikosteroidler, immün sistemi baskılayan ve anti-enflamatuar etkisi, özellikle yüksek dozlarda, bulaşıcı ajanlar için ana direnç azalması, enfeksiyonlar yerleştirmek için, ve enfeksiyon belirtileri maske yeteneğini azaltabilir. İkincil enfeksiyonları geliştirmek için daha muhtemel olabilir. İnhalasyon ve nazal kortikosteroidler ile tedavi hastalarda dikkatle bir enfeksiyon, solunum yolu veya herhangi bir sistemik tedavi edilmemiş fungal, bakteriyel, parazitik veya viral enfeksiyon özellikle aktif veya sessiz tüberküloz enfeksiyonu ile uygulanmalıdır. Kortikosteroidlerin yan etkileri yerel yerine sistemik İdaresi tarafından simge durumuna küçültülmüş olabilir, ancak riskler tamamen kaldırılmış değildir.
