Kortikosteroidler kan basıncı hipernatremi, hipokalemi, sıvı retansiyonu ve yükselmesine neden olabilir. Bu mineralokortikoid etkileri prednizolon ile en önemli, hidrokortizon ve kortizon izledi, sonra prednizon ve prednizolon tarafından. Kalan kortikosteroidler, prednizolon, deksametazon, metilprednizolon ve hidrokortizon, küçük mineralokortikoid etkinlikleri var. Ancak, herhangi bir kortikosteroid yüksek dozda bu etkilerin göstermek, özellikle kısa süreler daha uzun süre verilirse olabilir. Kortikosteroidler ile tedavi hastalarda dikkatle sıvı retansiyonu, hipertansiyon, konjestif kalp yetmezliği ve/veya böbrek fonksiyon bozukluğu olan uygulanmalıdır. Diyet sodyum kısıtlaması ve Potasyum ilavesi gerekebilir.
