Sempatomimetik ajanlar mesane boynundaki alfa-1 adrenerjik reseptörlerin stimülasyonu ile kas kasılması düz nedeniyle prostat büyümesi olan hastalarda idrar zorluğu neden ya da kötüleştirebilir. Sempatomimetik ajanlar ile tedavi dikkatle hipertrofisi ya da prostat tümörleri olan hastalarda uygulanmalıdır.
