Hangi yaşlı hastalar özellikle duyarlıdır için (TSA): trisiklik antidepresanlar ve tetrasiklik i antikolinerjik etkinliği var. Amitriptilin ve Celexa gibi Tersiyer Amin sınıftaki diğer ajanlar daha büyük antikolinerjik etkileri sergilemek eğilimindedir. TSA ile tedavi hastalarda dikkatle antikolinerjik aktivite ile şiddetlenir olabilir bu rahatsızlığın, bu tür idrar retansiyonu veya tıkanıklığı; açılı glokom, tedavi edilmezse göz içi hipertansiyon, ya da kontrol edilemeyen primer açık açılı glokom; ve gastrointestinal obstrüktif bozukluklar olarak uygulanmalıdır. Açılı glokom olan hastalarda, ortalama dozlarda bile bir saldırı çökertebilir.
